To meet our goal of ending substandard housing, Habitat depends on the energy and time of volunteers for office support, committee work and home construction. We welcome volunteers of all skill levels and interests into our Habitat family. The best value and the most powerful contribution comes from the volunteer (skilled in construction or not) who wants to make a difference in the community. Habitat for Humanity is an open community, always looking for those interested in joining!

We are currently building at the Crossroads Subdivision in southwest Fresno, where building takes place Tuesday through Saturday.

Most of our volunteer positions do not require previous experience and fall under three categories:

  • Action Team/Committee Volunteers
  • Office Volunteers
  • Construction Volunteers.

Action Team/Committee Volunteers meet regularly according to the needs of the committee. There are ten action teams/committees on which to serve, each chartered with a specific goal designed to reinforce the mission of Habitat for Humanity Fresno County. Please call our office for a detailed description of each committee.
  1. Strategy Committee
  2. Operations Committee
  3. Finance Committee
  4. Family Selection Action Team
  5. Partner Family Action Team SAF
  6. Construction Action Policy Team
  7. Construction Action Product Team
  8. Construction Site Selection
  9. Church Relations Action Team
  10. Resource Development Action Team

Office volunteers are scheduled according to the needs of our office at any given time. As the center of communication for Habitat for Humanity Fresno County, office volunteers are professional, consistent and reliable. The scope of work includes administrative assistance, resource development and family services.

Construction volunteers will help build new homes to complete our 89-home Crossroads subdivision. Volunteers will work rain or shine from 7am to 3pm. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome at our jobsite.

The first step to becoming a construction volunteer is to participate in a Volunteer Orientation. You must call the Habitat office to reserve your space for the orientation, (559) 237-4102. After attending the orientation, volunteers will be scheduled to work. Refer to the calendar on the Home Page for orientation dates.

While children under the age of 16 are not allowed to volunteer, we welcome your calls to our office for ideas on ways youth younger than 16 may get involved.
