NR Family Services Coordinator
Youa Vang has spent most of her life in Fresno, where she completed grade school and went on to obtain her undergraduate degree at California State University, Fresno. Through meaningful volunteer experiences at various community-based events during her high school and college years, she gained a deeper insight of the needs in the community and realized her passion for helping people.
She was first introduced to the Habitat team after her family was selected for the unique opportunity to partner with Habitat in building their very first home. It was then that she began her involvement with the work of Habitat by participating in resident engagement opportunities, joining efforts in advocating for better access to resources in Southwest Fresno, and coordinating backpack/toy drives for the neighborhood children. Youa eventually joined the Habitat team as a member of Neighborhood Revitalization in 2015. In her current role, she implements and progresses her drive to help people. She continues to cultivate relationships and follow strategic processes to efficiently connect families in need to the appropriate resources, with a great focus on improving housing conditions for Fresno and Madera residents.
Growing up in a Habitat home, she experienced the direct impact of Habitat’s mission in building not just homes and communities, but also hope—hope that the American dream of homeownership was achievable. It’s through receiving hope that she is committed to pay it forward through her work at Habitat by continuing to give hope to other families just like hers.
