Alfred Sanchez | Board Member

Born in Guanajuato, Mexico, Alfred Sanchez came to this country at the age of 9 and attended schools in Madera. The son of farmworkers, he also worked in the fields but aspired to be an educator one day.


After completing his Bachelor's degree and teaching credential, he became a teacher and wrestling coach in Firebaugh. He also established a Free-Style Wrestling Program for boys ages 5 to 18. and devoted innumerable hours of his own time to these young people, taking them to weekend events, sponsoring them financially, as well as opening his own home to them. 


Completing his M.A and Administrative credential he served as Associate Principal at Coalinga High from 1990-1994. From 1994 to 1998 Mr. Sanchez was Principal at Mendota High School where he stepped in and established effective policies and valuable programs for the brand new school. For his efforts he was recognized as Fresno County Administrator orf the year in 1997. Other honors include: North Sequoia league Cross County Coach of the year 1986; West Sierra League Wrestling Coach of the year 1988 and 1989; Fresno County AMAE Educator of the year 1993; Secondary Principal of the year ACSA Region IX 1996; Fresno City College Distinguished Alumni 2001; Big Fresno Fair Educator of the year 2008. 


In 1999, Mr. Sanchez opened Hallmark Charter, where he is the Director today. He believe in the potential of all students to be successful, works tirelessly to that end, and is able to transmit these beliefs to others. He says that working with Habitat allows him to continue in that spirit and he enjoys sharing his experiences.
