Kaiser Permanente’s Director of Operations for Member Services Norma Macedo has been a lifelong member of the community. She was born in Fresno, raised in Reedley, and is now the proud mother of two grown children. The meaning of “hard worker” is familiar to her, as she comes from a family that began as farm workers and worked their way up to owning their own business and homes.
Norma earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Reedley College. She then went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in international business and a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from California State University, Fresno.
Working at Kaiser, she is responsible for the initiatives and daily operations of member services. She supports and represents Kaiser health plan members, strategizes with regional and local leadership, and provides performance-based consulting to departments. Prior to this role, she held the position of the project and operations director for United Health Centers for seven years. At United, she assisted in the leadership and direction of initiatives for the expansion of health centers. Norma’s experience has been focused on project development where she successfully directed the design, implementation, and evaluation of multi-disciplinary projects that improved accessibility and availability of services for underserved rural communities.
Norma has participated in several community advisory committees and collaboratives through her employers. Additionally, she and her children have been active volunteers in other community programs and events.
As someone who comes from a low-income family, Norma understands the needs of marginalized people and the overall impact of owning a home. Her goal as a member of Habitat for Humanity is to utilize her skills and experience to support the organization in its mission to improve conditions for families in our communities.
Norma feels blessed and honored to be a part of the Habitat for Humanity family!
