habitat on the hill

Habitat on the Hill, Habitat for Humanity International’s annual legislative conference, is an opportunity for Habitat homeowners, staff members, volunteers and supporters from around the country to unite in our nation’s capital as advocates for safe and affordable housing.

The three-day conference will feature national and local experts who will share how to effectively advocate for local housing solutions while gaining a better understanding of Habitat’s national advocacy work and its impact.

Richard Rothstein, distinguished fellow of the Economic Policy Institute and author of "The Color of Law," will deliver the keynote address at Habitat on the Hill 2019. Rothstein’s presentation will set the stage for the conference, illustrating how public policies can impact and shape the racial makeup of communities.

On Feb. 13, Habitat on the Hill attendees will serve as advocates in action during meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Attendees will share personal accounts and information that demonstrate how access to affordable housing empowers families. Lawmakers will be encouraged to support favorable housing policies and programs, as well as specific budget requests that reinforce the continuation of Habitat’s work.

Now in its 14th year, this conference will be one of the most productive yet, as we focus on how we can collectively work to address home affordability.
