We were recently joined by 17 participants from the ValleyBuild Apprenticeship Readiness Program! ValleyBuild is an amazing program that partners with Building Trades Unions to provide training and testing opportunities for participants to further, or even begin, their careers. This session, facilitated by our construction director, focused on blueprint reading. Participants took their blueprint reading skills and applied them to the task of building door and window packages for a pre-frame construction day. By the end of the day, these skilled volunteers assembled an entire portion, and then asked how they could continue volunteering with us in the future. Thank you, ValleyBuild Partnership, for encouraging people to keep building!

Xang Thao and Mai Yer Xiong-Thao have four amazing children. The apartment they rent has faced critical neglect from property management for the last 13 years. A broken window was "repaired" with a piece of plexiglass. Mold and mildew are growing in excess in the bathroom and kitchen due to poor ventilation. These problems are just some of many, but soon all will disappear as this family's new Habitat home nears completion! Xang and Mai Yer's unyielding sense of hope encourages our staff and volunteers to keep fighting for change. 💚🔨

In early November, Richard Camacho embraced his seven-year-old daughter, Aliana, after his family received the keys to their new Habitat home in Riverdale. "This is our house! We are getting the keys," Richard explained to Aliana.

Nhia Xiong and Kim Thao are parents to three beautiful boys! Plumbing problems caused leakage from the bathroom to flood outside of their current home. The area where they live is constantly a target for crime. They've experienced multiple thefts from their car, including the loss of their catalytic converter, and siphoned gas. But soon they'll move into their new Habitat home at our Barcus Phase II development in Fresno! Their positive energy at the site every Saturday constantly inspires our team. 💚🔨
